RAMAR® DIESEL XDO

RAILROAD LOCOMOTIVE & MARINE DIESEL ENGINE OIL

Close

INDUSTRIAL POWER: PHILLIPS 66® RAMAR®

Zinc-Free Protection. Engineered for Massive Displacement.

Mammoth is proud to offer Phillips 66® Ramar, a premium, chlorine-free, and zinc-free engine oil specifically developed for high-output medium-speed engines used in railroad, marine, and stationary power applications. Designed for the unique metallurgy of large-bore engines (such as EMD and GE), Ramar provides the heavy-duty protection required for engines that operate under extreme stress for thousands of continuous hours.

WHY MAMMOTH TRUSTS RAMAR:

  • Zinc-Free Chemistry: Specifically formulated with non-zinc anti-wear additives to protect engines with silver-plated bearings, preventing the corrosive damage that standard oils can cause.

  • Exceptional Soot Management: Engineered to handle the massive soot loads generated by large-displacement engines, preventing oil thickening and abrasive wear over extended service intervals.

  • High TBN Retention: Features a robust alkaline reserve to neutralize acidic combustion byproducts, protecting the engine from corrosive attack when using higher-sulfur fuels.

  • Thermal Stability: Maintains elite performance and viscosity in high-heat environments, ensuring reliable lubrication for locomotives, tugboats, and power generation units.

PRODUCT RESOURCES

PERFORMANCE

  • Zinc-Free Chemistry: Specifically designed for engines with silver-plated bearings, preventing the corrosion caused by standard zinc-based oils.

  • Massive Soot Management: Engineered to handle the heavy soot loads of large-displacement engines without significant oil thickening.

  • High-Output Protection: Delivers elite thermal stability for locomotives, tugboats, and stationary power units running continuous high-load cycles.

PROTECTION

  • Silver-Bearing Protection: The specialized zinc-free additive package is critical for protecting the silver-plated bearings found in EMD and GE engines.

  • Chlorine-Free Chemistry: Engineered to be environmentally responsible while maintaining elite anti-wear properties in massive displacement engines.

  • Severe Soot Handling: Designed to keep massive amounts of soot in suspension, preventing oil thickening during the grueling service cycles of locomotives and tugs.

UPTIME

  • Industrial Endurance: Designed for the 1,000+ hour service intervals common in the marine and railroad industries.

  • Bearing Security: By eliminating zinc, it prevents the silver-bearing failures that can lead to massive engine teardowns and months of downtime.

  • High-Soot Capacity: Keeps massive engines running efficiently even when fuel quality is inconsistent, protecting your most expensive assets.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Zinc-Free Chemistry: Ashless formulation prevents harmful deposits in engines with silver-plated bearings.

  • Alkalinity Retention: High TBN (13) neutralizes acids from high-sulfur marine and locomotive fuels.

  • Soot Dispersancy: Keeps soot in suspension to prevent filter plugging and abrasive wear.

  • Thermal Stability: Resists sludge formation in high-output medium-speed engines.

  • Water Demulsibility: Quickly separates from water, which is critical in marine and humid environments.

APPLICATIONS

  • EMD and GE locomotive diesel engines.

  • Large-bore marine diesel engines and stationary power generation units.

  • Heavy-duty industrial engines requiring a zinc-free (ashless) lubricant.

  • Engines with silver-plated components where standard zinc oils would cause damage.

Licenses & Approvals:

Ramar is recognized/certified for:

  • EMD (Progress Rail) Worthy (Zinc-Free)

  • GE (Wabtec) Generation 4 Long Life (Zinc-Free)

Ramar meets or exceeds the requirements of:

  • Caterpillar 3600 Series

  • Fairbanks Morse

  • ALCO

  • LMOA Generation 5

MAMMOTH TECHNICAL TIP:

This is a specialty oil for the big iron—rail and marine. It’s zinc-free because zinc will literally melt the silver bearings found in GE and EMD engines. If you're running a tug or a rail-yard switcher, this is the only way to go.
