COMPOUNDED GEAR OIL

COMPOUNDED WORM GEAR & STEAM CYLINDER LUBRICANT

Close

Formulated with high-quality paraffinic base oils and acidless tallow (fatty oil), this lubricant delivers exceptional film strength and "oiliness" specifically for the high-sliding friction of worm gear drives. It is engineered for both industrial and automotive gear sets operating at moderate to high temperatures. A critical feature of this oil is its ability to emulsify with water, ensuring consistent lubricity and protecting cylinder and valve surfaces from the corrosive effects of moisture and steam in steam engine applications. By maintaining superior surface wetting, it protects sensitive bronze and "yellow metals" from the pitting and heat buildup common in high-torque, low-speed service.

PRODUCT RESOURCES

PERFORMANCE

  • Provides exceptionally low fluid friction to reduce heat in high-contact worm gear sets.

  • Maintains stable viscosity across moderate to high operating temperature ranges.

  • Delivers superior lubricity for sliding wear components like worm gears and steam valves.

PROTECTION

  • Non-aggressive formula protects "yellow metals" like bronze gears from chemical corrosion.

  • Specifically designed to emulsify with water to maintain a consistent lubricating film.

  • Shields internal steam cylinder surfaces from moisture-induced rust and pitting.

UPTIME

  • High film strength prevents metal-to-metal contact, extending the life of gear reducers.

  • Reliable lubrication in high-moisture environments reduces unplanned steam system repairs.

  • Prevents surface fatigue in high-torque drives to keep production lines moving.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Fortified with fatty oils for superior lubricity and sliding wear protection.

  • Exceptional film thickness prevents surface fatigue in high-torque drives.

  • Inherently non-corrosive to bronze, brass, and copper gear components.

  • Excellent steam and moisture resistance for use in circulating systems.

  • High viscosity index ensures stable lubrication across variable temperatures.

APPLICATIONS

Industrial worm gear reducers, low-speed/high-torque enclosed gear sets, and steam cylinder lubrication.

MAMMOTH TECHNICAL TIP:

Worm gears generate more sliding friction than any other gear type. Never use a standard EP gear oil here; the sulfur in EP oil will chemically attack the bronze. Stick to Compounded oil to keep those gears alive.
